THE CAUSE:

THE LOVE JONES PROJECT

TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR WOMEN DIAGNOSED WITH INCOMPETENT CERVIX, OR PRETERM BIRTHS.

Tori had 2 pregnancies that led to pre-term births due to a condition diagnosed as IC, or incompetent cervix. Many women experience pre-term births due to IC & need alternative options in order to have full-term births. Preterm birth is when a baby is born too early, or before 37 weeks of pregnancy.

“In 2019, preterm birth affected  1 of every 10 births in the U.S” - CDC

Abbeyloopers (An online community that offers information & support for women who’ve suffered childbearing loss due to diagnosis of incompetent cervix).

This particular and specific group was the beginning stage of her gathering the proper information leading to a healthy full term pregnancy AND delivery December 21, 2014 after THREE losses.

Tori’s goal is to create awareness around IC, and the number of women who’ve suffered and are challenged in their efforts to move forward.

After major challenges due to IC, she underwent a surgery called TAC (transabdominal cerclage), http://www.uchospitals.edu/specialties/obgyn/cerclage/faq.html.

This procedure is what gave her cervix the support it needed to carry full term.  While Tori was fortunate, she had to haggle back and forth with her insurance company because her IC diagnosis was considered a pre-existing condition.  Tori’s goal is for the foundation to assist a qualifying family needing help in this very specific area and realize their dream of having children.

“If this foundation can support a family, after losses, in bringing forth life and realize their dream of having children, then I have done my job, used my pain, and fulfilled a purpose.”
